I love how GoBloMeMoFo is all about cheating at NaBloPoMo by inviting guest bloggers to Velveteen Mind to post for me on and off during November and I CAN'T EVEN PUBLISH THE GUEST POSTS IN TIME!!!
They should give out prizes for best procrastinator.
Of course, I'd put off picking mine up and they'd end up giving it to the janitor.
So here's how this is going to work for GoBloMeMoFo 2008:
- I'm going to continue cheating every which way, including posting twice in one day and backdating in order to catch up on days for which I was too lazy to actually hit publish. Sweet, I know. I'll try not to do that to the guest bloggers, though.
- If you've volunteered to save the bunny (nay, save the blog), you will receive an email with a Guest Author invite for Velveteen Mind on TypePad. From there, you'll be able to write your post and upload photos, format it to all heaven, and save it. I'll let you know before I publish it.
- I've only sent out a couple of those emails so far, and they were to squeaky wheels (love squeaky wheels, actually; these people understand me) and the truly ambitious. aka the people that emailed me a lot.
- One thing I learned last year was that new readers to Velveteen Mind got tired of digging through the guest posts for posts from me (you are sweet, but you are missing the point), despite the fact that all of the GoBloMeMoFo posts had badges at the top and were easy to skip if you wanted to be evil like that. With that in mind, I'm going to publish the guest posts on the front page with an intro and then a "continue reading" link, after their first day up. I beg of you, click that Continue Reading link! It's really convenient because you'll already be on the page to comment at that point, which you'll want to do so you can win prizes!
- I'll probably break most of these rules, not get around to them, and generally drop the ball. But on the off chance that I totally knock this out of the park, you'll want to pay attention and come back every day so you don't miss anything. Seriously, I pick cool people. You'll be so cutting edge. ish.

The point of GoBloMeMoFo is I don't have time for this everyday posting crap to get to know some new-to-you bloggers or to give some old-to-you bloggers room to get all Ms. Nasty without sullying up their own pretty blogs, so be sure you leave them a comment and then go visit their blogs!
The whole commenting business helps them know that someone other than me is reading their guest post. The bit about visiting their blog is basically the only thing I have to offer them over here: traffic. New eyes. New ears. New brains to mold.

And I'm not above bribing you to do it, hence the prizes. Which I will give you more details about soon. Which probably means on November 30.
