Like Tom Hanks but Without the Cash
No, there was no live feed of The People's Party. As far as I can tell, Guy Kawasaki hijacked our video girl (which, yes, is just like "video killed the radio star") and I'm still crushed about it. Guy! I thought we were working together on this! Man.
(I'm kidding. I should probably spell that out.)
You know what else there wasn't? Any more words after this next paragraph or two. I am finally home after spending 24 hours straight in either an airport or an airplane. Yeah... um... Yeah. I was just like Tom
Hanks in The Terminal, though it felt much more like Cast Away. After the ninth hour, I looked just like a castaway, too, inspiring vendors to give me free food and drinks. Mostly because they wanted me to stop scaring off their customers.
If you are new here, maybe some of my regular readers can vouch for this blog in the comments? If not, my sidebars are loaded with stuff to click, including great post-BlogHer posts by
people that are not me. Or, even better, because although I am too tired to type, I'm not too tired to read...
If we met this weekend for the first time, leave a comment with a link to your blog and give me something to occupy my delirious brain that refuses to shut off and let me get some sleep! Don't leave me hanging, though. Twitter became like my Wilson at the airport... I was doing a lot of talking and only imagining a lot of responses. Maybe my brain will kick back on somewhere in here and I'll be able to write a real post. Until then... Vouching and linking commencing... now!

Bless your heart! Glad you did finally make it home (with Wilson) and hope you get some much needed sleep sooon.

You poor, poor, soul.
Great to meet you. In person, that is. :D
Eh...if you wanna see Playgroupie and Carl, it's up at mah blawg. As always, cute Little Man pictures to be found as well. Hit the "Photos" button. Heh.
Good luck recovering, and thanks for a kick-ass party!

Didn't meet this weekend, but just wanted to say...Glad you're back safe.
I think everyone is recovering, whether we were there, or just glued to live blogging and twittering about the event.
Here's to normal...soon.
Also I'll vouch for your blog!

Didn't go to Blogher :-( but...I can vouch for your blog!
Sorry to hear it took 24 hours to get home. That's insanity! Hope you settle in quickly.
Posted by: Felice | July 22, 2008 at 04:09 PM
I love you! Let's get a Southern Mafia together to force Blogher 09 down south next year! I loved it though, totally worth it. My post-mortem post is up, but more might come, you never know!
Posted by: Deb on the Rocks | July 22, 2008 at 04:15 PM
I've been your fan for a while but we did finally meet in person for the first time this weekend. So great!
I'd totally agree with Deb on the rocks except I prefer to get the eff out of the south in the summer. LOVED cool San Francisco.
We DO need a Gulf Coast Hurricane Alley BlogHer-ette party, maybe in NOLA. Come fall a big celebration of escaping safely, maybe? (See I'm optimistic and just because a hurricane is missing me by a mile right now.)

Wish we could have met up...let me know if you come through Boulder + I'll make sure it happens! I'll be reading/listening.

Sadly didn't meet you this weekend -- but very very happy to vouch for the complete awesomeness of you and this blog. So, any new readers, hear this: come back often, and be enthralled often.
Posted by: MommyTime | July 22, 2008 at 07:20 PM
So glad you made it home safely. And here I was whining about my lousy hour late plane.
You do rule - but I think anyone coming here already knows that.
Posted by: andi | July 22, 2008 at 08:26 PM
it was lovely meeting you
Posted by: flutter | July 22, 2008 at 08:55 PM
Last time I saw you, your were merrily typing away on your laptop in the bar and grill in SFO. I'd image after 24 hours, there was nothing merry about it. Glad you made it back home!
Posted by: Kristabella | July 22, 2008 at 09:20 PM
Pretty please can we have the sequel to Dick and Jane? I am waiting with bated breath.
Posted by: lee | July 22, 2008 at 09:54 PM
Awwww. I didn't write Dick and Jane. I will forward this to the writer, though. I was floundering around BlogHer and she posted while I was away. I'm not sure when she plans the next installment. I think she wanted to see if anyone was interested in this one.
Glad you liked it. Fascinating, right?

We met, albeit briefly. I'm new to your blog, but I'm already a big fan. :)
Posted by: nanette | July 22, 2008 at 11:23 PM
We didn't meet this weekend. Wasn't at BlogHer but I've heard some really great things about your blog and I'm really enjoying reading your words.
Glad you're back safe!!
Posted by: Alison | July 22, 2008 at 11:24 PM
That totally sucks, I'm sorry you had to spend so much time in the airport/airplane. Get some recovery time in if you can!
It was great to meet you this weekend.

Didn't go, didn't meet you...but I think that picture over at OhTheJoys is the first time I've 'seen' you?! Nice to meet ya.
was in Idaho over the Blogher thingy, so it kinda makes up for it...yeah, right.

Hello, you cutie! I just wanted to thank you again for throwing such a wonderful People's Party and for working so hard. You are beyond lovely. And I'm sending smooches...

Posted by: Lara | July 23, 2008 at 01:30 AM
Hey new people, this blog RULES. FER RILLS.
I feel all responsible for your terrible travel experience. Like my state let you down. Stupid SFO. BlogHer should be in LA. We don't cancel flights like they do in NorCal.
I was so glad I finally met you in person. Next year, I'm going to do more for your party than carry swag bags!
Posted by: heather | July 23, 2008 at 01:49 AM
Welcome back - forgive me if I only psuedo-feel bad for you. ;o)
See you at BlogHer next year (didn't make it this time).;
Posted by: Colleen - Mommy Always Wins | July 23, 2008 at 10:16 AM
I saw a lot of cool photos of you on flickr. You always looked very happy (or drunk). Hope you had a great time, despite the long trip home.
Posted by: Neil | July 23, 2008 at 12:45 PM
LURRVED meeting you, and when I'm all unjetlaggy and uncovered with laundry etc I want to figure out what that was you said about comments in Google share because it sounded really full of linky love but at that point my mind glazed over.
Posted by: Anne Glamore | July 23, 2008 at 01:50 PM
Hey: Loved meeting you and want to know more about what you said at one of the seminars about google share comments, because it sounded all cool and stuff but technologically my brain DID. Not. Comprehend.
Glad you finally made it back down here to the Heart of Dixie.
Posted by: Anne Glamore | July 23, 2008 at 01:52 PM
I want you to know that I was the one who kept calling the airline and begging them to delay your flight to see what mad Tweets were going to come next. Glad you're home safe and sound, glad you got to indulge in a drunken orgy and am actually pretty ok with the live feed not being up, because FLAT OUT Izzy's one funny funny lady in the chatroom.
Can't wait to hear the rest once your brain cells are firing all engines.

Well, that was a great party! Loud... but great! I especially enjoyed the empty "extra" drink ticket bucket. I mentioned it in my post. It sort of makes sense, but then I might be being overly optimistic. Hope you'll stop by to read it: http://livingintheory.blogspot.com/2008/07/coming-out-of-fog-blogher-2008-san.html

I want to give you BIG smooches. You were so nice to me, which was much needed. And lady? You are so lovely.
Posted by: Michele | July 23, 2008 at 03:21 PM
We met for the first time this weekend after the Blog to Book session!
Posted by: Diana | July 23, 2008 at 03:21 PM
Anne- You can see what my Google Share looks like in my sidebar under Twits & Readers, directly below "Your pretty faces." It links to others' posts I'm reading, but you can also click on "Read more" to see all of the posts I've shared.
Sugar- That "drop your unused drink tickets" bucket did work! But only for a while. At one point, there were lots of tickets in there, but they went more or less immediately once people caught on that others were dropping tickets in there. I think you sort of had to stalk the bucket.
Posted by: Megan | July 23, 2008 at 03:24 PM
It was great to meet you (briefly) this weekend at the Blog to Book session. We chatted about appearing on the news & I'm about to send you some followup mail about my experiences
Posted by: Debbie | July 23, 2008 at 04:11 PM
I DID meet you at BH-- if you count having my eyes light up in recognition when I saw you at the People's Party and then freezing in my tracks and then faking a cell phone call so I looked like I had a reason to walk away as actually 'meeting you.'
I haven't been that poised and self-assured since, oh, middle school. So yeah, I feel ya on that whole 'yes, there were some awkward moments' thing. But regardless, I loved being there and plan on coming back next year as well.
Consider yourself mightily vouched-for.
Posted by: Babybloomr | July 23, 2008 at 04:21 PM
Sounds like your trip home sucked, sorry! We didn't officially meet at BlogHer, but I was there and in several of the same breakout sessions as you. You managed to ask a question in every one I was at (you win for that) and were funny as hell. Looking forward to reading more of your blog. Smiles!
Posted by: Wifey | July 23, 2008 at 04:30 PM
Hey, dollface. So glad we had some time to chat at BH. We need to put together some kind of southern Blog Nosh meetup or something. I mean, you're only 12-14 hours from Tulsa, right?
Talk soon.
Posted by: Jenny, Crash Test Mommy | July 23, 2008 at 05:23 PM
Thanks for The People's Party! It was fabulous. I also sat next to you at the Monetization session and thought you were hilarious. And true. And real. I'm totally kissing your cute ass.
Posted by: JessicaAPISS | July 23, 2008 at 05:40 PM
We met for like three seconds at the People's Party. I hope I told you it was awesome, which is why I got up the guts to talk to you at all.
Posted by: Missy | July 23, 2008 at 06:17 PM
Sorry your travel back was so looonnngg. We will definitely meet at Blogher next year!

I'm so glad I got to meet you, only if it was in fleeting moments. Next year I will pin you down for an actual chat.

Scribbit said such glowing things about you I had to come check it out. Even the first impression is glorious! Can't wait to get to know you better.

I met you at your rocking party, though it was super fast and super crazy, and I was probably giggling. Or spilling my drink. Or holding someone else's drink. Or all of the above.
(Also: I had SO much fun Thursday night. SO much fun. Power' to the People('s Party)! And thank you! for putting it all together.)
Posted by: Kerri Anne | July 24, 2008 at 07:42 PM
I wanted to meet you at Blogher and I saw you at Blogher, but I don't think I ever actually got to talk to you at Blogher. Regardless, I will continue to read you even if we are not at Blogher.
Blogher.

Thanks so much for leaving such a nice comment on my blog (Mom o Matic). I intend to exactly the same thing. Spend more time thinking and planning for meetups, dinner, etc. And less time worrying about what the heck to wear.
Posted by: Lotta | July 25, 2008 at 04:04 PM
We met @ BlogHer for the first time! :)
I was the one that grabbed you out of your People's Party prep to let you know your cellphone was outside in the hallway and ripe for the stealin'.
Of course you probably met a crap load of people in the next few days so what was one of the highlights of my weekend may not have even been memorable to you. :D
