The end of March through beginning of April have been one of those months. Since April doesn’t appear to have plans to let up, I’m going to tidy up some loose ends I’d love to share with you but don’t have the energy to huff and puff into full blown posts.
As it turns out, all of my bits of news have graphics attached.
Isn’t it nice when that happens?

A year of design work is finished and Velveteen Mind has a new look!
Three new mastheads by Schmutzie of Ninjamatics:
Schmutzie and I knew we wanted to retain some of the core elements of my original masthead and heard you loud and clear when you demanded the same. Velveteen Mind has had the same design for four years, since the very beginning. As much as I adored it, I wanted to bring more of myself into it. More of the bits of myself that I've shared with you over the years.
Velveteen Mind includes a Storyville prostitute as captured by EJ Bellocq in New Orleans, our home not so long ago and second home only an hour to our West.
About Megan Jordan includes blue crabs, as captured by my boys along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, our home.
Rummage Blog includes a sideshow knife juggler, slightly risque, as featured in my sidebar and twitter background for years. Surrounded by brown pelicans in flight, my favorite image to capture on film along our coast, and whose gullets are nothing if not rummage bins.
And that's my next bit of news: Check out my Rummage Blog!
My year of hemming and hawing over design decisions also included indecision over how to proceed with my mish-mash Content Parlor site. I launched Content Parlor in January 2010 and immediately appreciated having a place for slapdash ideas and images, however I also immediately wanted to incorporate it more seamlessly into VelveteenMind.com. Enter analysis paralysis. Solution: Schmutzie.
Schmutzie was fabulous. If you need a designer, hire her.
She is patient and creative and forward thinking.
Now go tell her on twitter or in the comments how much you love her work!
